Aug 21 (DPA) A Tamil legislator's brother was shot dead by an unidentified man in eastern Sri Lanka, a family spokesman said Tuesday. Five killed amid heavy shelling in Sri Lanka's Jaffna

Aug 21 (AFP) Government forces and Tamil Tiger rebels exchanged artillery fire in northern Sri Lanka Tuesday as five people were killed in other violence, military officials and rebels said. Aug 22 (Reuters) HIV infections are increasing at a worrying 10 percent a year in the Asia Pacific region, a top UN AIDS official said on Tuesday, putting the rise down to intravenous drug use, sex workers and conflicts. Plane diverted after Tigers fire at air base

Aug 22 (DPA) Tamil rebels fired artillery at a military air base yesterday in northern Sri Lanka, prompting security forces to retaliate and forcing the diversion of a civilian passenger plane, military and airline officials said. Three constables arrested
