Ten killed in Sri Lanka

Jan 1 (BBC) Seven civilians including two women have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in eastern Sri Lanka. Four people died in Ampara district, and three in Batticaloa district. Some of the civilians were said to be from the ethnic Sinhalese majority and some were Tamils.
