Clandestine TV station raided

Feb 18 (SAMN) Police have launched a full scale investigation into the operations of a TV broadcaster operating from the TELO premises in Vavuniya under the name SUN TV, after it was found the station did not have a valid licence to operate in Sri Lanka. 500 expectant mothers in IDP camps

Feb 18 (SAMN) Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has directed his officials to remove immediately 500 pregnant women from the temporary camps in Vavuniya and relocate them to hospitals. Trinco hospital to treat seriously injured, sick IDPs

Feb 18 (Island) The Health Ministry has taken steps to admit the seriously injured and sick internally displaced people, who fled from Mullaitivu, to the Trincomalee Hospital, which is better equipped than the Batticaloa Hospital, where they were treated earlier.
