Sri Lanka, Hamburg ports in collaboration talks
Mar 15 (LBO) A German delegation headed by a Sri Lankan-born official from the port of Hamburg held talks with Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on assistance and collaboration between the two harbours, a statement said. Lanka imports record number of 3-wheelers from India
Mar 15 (PTI) Sri Lanka's vehicle imports hit a new record with the number of three-wheel vehicles bought mainly from India crossing the 85,000 mark, official figures today showed. The total vehicle imports jumped 359,243 in 2010, up 75.9 percent compared to the previous year, Sri Lanka import figures showed. It showed that the number of three wheelers, used mainly as the common man's taxi, jumped 120 percent to 85,648 units in calendar 2010.

Massive US$ 5.2 B trade deficit: Implications for exports
Mar 15 (ST) A massive trade deficit of US$ 5.2 billion characterized last year�s trade performance. The trade deficit expanded by 66.7 per cent to US$ 5,205 million in 2010 from US dollars 3,122 million in 2009. It was the largest trade deficit recorded in the country�s economic history.
