Sri Lanka exports down 3.8% in Jan 2017, fuel drive imports

May 4 (EN) SL's exports fell 3.8% to US$ 864.7 million in January 2017 from a year earlier, with industrial exports continuing to slow, while imports surged driven by fuel amid a drought, official data showed. Apparel exports fell 8.2% to US$ 426.3 million, rubber products fell 18.7% to US$ 58 million. Time-based tariff system extends to single phase power consumers
