US$ 780 million from IMF
Aug 4 (CT) SL is in line to receive an IMF disbursement of US$ 780 million on 23 Aug. This is because the IMF, due to COVID-19 Pandemic, on Monday approved a general allocation of US$ 650 billion to its member countries. Allocation is based on membership quota. SL�s quota with the IMF is 0.12%. On that basis the disbursement allocated to SL on 23 Aug will be $ 780 million. Finance firms warned over exorbitant interest rates

422,472 persons vaccinated against COVID-19 on Monday
Aug 4 (FT) 422,472 persons received the first or second dose of a COVD-19 vaccine on Monday. Doses of AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Moderna were administered on Monday and a total of 10,309,855 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 2,448,361 persons have received the second dose as well. Aug 4 (FT) Sri Lanka�s COVID-19 detections rose to 316,219 with 2,450 persons testing positive for COVID-19 yesterday. Aug 4 (FT) A rise in COVID-19 deaths confirmed within a day was seen on Monday, when the Health Services Director General confirmed 74 COVID-19 deaths.
