Administering Pfizer first dose to healthy 18-19 age group from Monday: GMOA
Oct 7 (TM) Vaccine Technical Committee today decided to start administering the first dose of Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 18 and 19 from Monday, the GMOA said. They said the decision was taken as the first step in a healthy children's vaccination programme. The vaccination rollout will be done at the Offices of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and in the govt hospitals. Oct 7 (TM) Despite the Govt imposing a a one-off Casino Industry levy of LKR 1 Bn each on the 4 Casinos established in Sri Lanka in 2015, a report by publicfinance.lk details that the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is yet to receive arrears amounting to LKR 2.67Bn. SJB MP suggests jacking up price of fags by Rs. 20 to resolve teachers� salary demand
Oct 7 (Island) The SJB asked the govt to increase the price of a cigarette by Rs. 20 and utilize the proceeds to rectify teachers� salary anomalies. SJB Matara District MP Buddhika Pathirana said that the prices of cigarettes had not been increased since 2019 and if the prices of cigarettes were increased by Rs. 20 per stick, the Treasury would be able to collect an extra Rs. 50 billion annually. If the relevant measure was introduced, a total of Rs. 100 billion can be collected between 2021 and 2022.
