Unhealthy coping in the face of food insecurity
Aug 26 (TM) In Sri Lanka, about one in every five households has been reducing the number of meals consumed in a day and about one-third have been limiting portion sizes. Overall, the level of food-based coping strategies reduced slightly between May of last year (2022) and March of this year (2023), except for borrowing food or relying on help from friends and relatives, a strategy that is employed by a similar percentage of households compared to last year.

His knees are swollen, his skin has been burnt by a harsh, unforgiving sun and he made the long journey in a simple pair of slippers. Wildlife experts urge rollout of delayed plan to ease human-elephant conflict
Aug 25 (ST) �If humans had limited access to food and water and their movement was restricted, they would rebel; this is what the elephants are doing,� said Prabash Karunatilake, president of the Collective of Wildlife Officers. Sri Lanka welcomes 110,000 tourists during first 23 days of August
Aug 26 (CT) August 2023 seems to be on the path to achieving more than 150,000 tourist arrivals to the country, with the first 23 days of the month drawing nearly 110,000 tourists, which is almost triple that of what it achieved during the same month of last year. According to the SL Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka has managed to welcome more than 109,954 tourists during the first 23 days of this month, 191 per cent higher than what it saw for the whole of August last year.

Interim order issued suspending gazette against Sri Lanka Automobile Sports
