Video: Man arrested with 1.8Kg gold in rectum |
Dec 27 (DM) A man was arrested with gold biscuits worth over Rs.10 million hidden in his rectum early this morning while arriving from Dubai, by the custom officials. The biscuits said to be 24 Karat gold and made in Switzerland, weighed close to 1800 grammes. This is reportedly the largest haul that a suspect has tried to smuggle into the country in his rectum. Rs. 14.8 m stolen from Malabe bank |
Dec 27 (DN) Two armed men stormed a private bank in Malabe at around 11.30 a.m. yesterday and robbed Rs. 14.8 million from the cashiers at gunpoint. According to SSP Ajith Rohana, the two men who arrived at the bank premises in a motorcycle wearing full face helmets had first told the security guards at the entrance to kneel down. 350-year-old cannon found in the sea |
Dec 27 (CT) A cannon, older than 350 years, was found in the sea near the Colombo Harbour, a high-ranking official said. The cannon is currently with the Department of Archaeology and is believed to belong to the pre-British era. However, the Department has not yet indentified whether this cannon belongs to the Portuguese or the Dutch. The archaeologists suspect the cannon belongs to a sunken ship. 'GCE AL 2013 results: NE Provinces gain top results due to four years of peace' |
