Dec 28 (Island) My thoughts go back forty eight years- to a little forest clad hamlet called Aluttarama, seven miles north of Mahiyangana. The road from Mahiyangana to Aluttarama was rugged and rustic for about five miles. Beyond that, it was little more than a cart track lined on either side by forest. A green mantle of forest stretched for miles around, and the mighty Mahaweli Ganga snaked its way through the forest like some giant reptile. This was truly Natures kingdom.
