Tamil parties write to UNHRC urging fresh resolution against SL for alleged war crimes
Sep 6 (ST) Little over a week ahead of the UNHRC sessions in Geneva, a group of Tamil MPs and civil society representatives have written to Foreign Ministers of the UN Core Group on SL urging them to present a fresh UN Resolution on SL. This they say is to achieve accountability for alleged crimes committed by referring SL to the International Criminal Court (ICC) as recommended by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in her last report submitted to the Council in March last year.

Shares gain for 5th session amid strong foreign inflows
Sep 6 (EN) SL stocks edged up on Monday (5) for the fifth session mainly pushed by LOLC shares following a merger speculation, brokers said. The market saw a net foreign inflow was 647 million rupees on Monday. The bourse has seen a net foreign inflow of 1.85 billion rupees so far this year after 3.24 billion rupees of net inflow in the last 15 straight sessions amid positive sentiment over an IMF deal. 11 Sri Lankans planning to sail to Canada held in Kerala: Police
Sep 6 (HT) Kerala police on Monday arrested 11 Sri Lankans from a hotel in Kollam in south Kerala after a tip off from Tamil Nadu police that they were planning to sail to Canada in a fishing boat. Police said two Sri Lankan nationals, who reached Tamil Nadu on tourist visa last week, were found to be missing and Q Branch (a CID wing) followed their phone signals and located them in Kollam and alerted its counterparts. 'Sri Lanka IMF deal, taxes cannot be revealed to parliament until implemented'
