Dec 10 (Island) An economist says Sri Lanka�s contracting trade account deficit is frightening and is bad news although, on the positive side, economic growth is showing signs of bottoming out and Sri Lanka needs to have adequate social protection schemes in place before economic development enters the fast lane. Puthirasigamony said the recent protests carried out by several prisoners at the Negombo and Bogambara prisons were politically motivated by vested interests.
