Dec 18 (Island) A senior official of the Treasury says Sri Lanka is not likely to meet the budget deficit target of seven percent of GDP for 2009 but the IMF would be flexible enough to allow a relaxation of targets set in the agreement between Sri Lanka and the IMF for the US$2.6 billion standby facility. Swine flu invades universities |
Dec 18 (Island) The Health Ministry is continuing to warn the public on the new influenza A H1N1 which has now infiltrated the universities too. Two students aged 22, who had been admitted to the Sri Jayawardhanapura Hospital with symptoms of swine flu, had been diagnosed positive. The Sabaragamuwa and Peradeniya Universities were most affected and several students were admitted to hospital. Sputum tests carried out however were negative.
